When the welcome ends and focus time begins, everyone's mic is muted automatically so the room stays calm and nothing interrupts your concentration. You can always unmute yourself if you need to say something - we just ask "are you sure?" first, so it is a choice, not an accident.
A host can also ask everyone to mute. Nobody can ever be un-muted by someone else - your mic is always your choice to turn back on.
